With the sad event of today's accident we pray for the
child's quick recovery & our thoughts are with his parents and family.
With all the negativity we are seeing around the country
aimed at law enforcement we are lucky in our community to have a great deal of
support from our government leaders and our citizens. There were numerous
people who stopped today at the accident scene to render aid and assistance to
the injured child and to the other children who witnessed this incident.
We
want to thank everyone who stopped to assist and all the residents who called
to offer support and provide information. The positive power of social media
was truly shown today.
It is not too often that a hit and run crime is solved in
such a short matter of time. There was exceptional police work done today by
all members of the MPD both sworn and civilian support staff. Today was a team
effort with everyone from our communication workers to our sworn officers to
the Massachusetts State Police all working together to solve a normally
unsolvable crime.
Thank you to all our officers for your diligence today. You
truly made a difference and you made #Methuen proud. I am proud to serve as
your Chief and to be a member of such an exceptional group of individuals. Job
well done!
