On Friday 10/12/12 At approximately 7:30 PM MPD received a 9-1-1 call
reporting two males were holding down another male who had just broken into 21
Dale Street. Officers arrived and located the suspect being held down by
two males.
The suspect was identified as Wilfredo Rivera, age 44 of 49 Madison Street .
There has recently been approximately 10 residential break ins over the last
several weeks in a two-block radius of Madison Street particularly
Madison Street itself.
The other two males were relatives of the home owner. When the
witnesses walked into the kitchen area, a hispanic male, later identified
as Wilfredo Rivera, exited from the bedroom area. One of the witnesses
informed Mr. Rivera they were calling the police. The witness retrieve his cell phone and Mr.
Rivera attacked the witness knocling away the cell phone and assaulting
him.
One of the witnesses received an injury to his face.
Wilfredo Rivera was placed under arrest and charged with:
1.
Breaking and Entering in the nighttime to commit a
felony,
2.
Intimidation of a Witness,
3.
Assault and Battery,
4.
Attempt to commit crime to wit larceny of property,
5.
Malicious destruction of property (doorframe) over $250.00,
and
6.
Burglary with Assault on Occupant.
The investigation continues in reference to the other area break ins.
