A Message from Columbia Gas to Gas Customers
Icicles and heavy snow falling from the eaves and gutters above your natural gas meter is dangerous. It poses a serious safety risk by damaging the meter or service connection, potentially resulting in a gas leak. Shovel a path to your gas meter so it is accessible in the event of an emergency. Clean off the meter, but do not use a shovel or kick or strike your gas meter to remove snow and ice. Clear snow and ice from around the vents for your heating equipment and gas appliances to prevent a dangerous carbon monoxide situation.
