In the earlier morning hours on Saturday
December 8, 2012 Jose L Almonte age 42 of 113 Boston St Methuen, Ma. Drove his
SUV into the side of the Methuen East End Fire Station causing heavy damage to
his vehicle and the building. Methuen
Fire Firefighters were awoken by a loud bang and shaking. They exited the building and rendered first
aid to Mr. Almonte.
Officer Richardson of the Methuen Police
Department was in the area on routine patrol when he observed the vehicle into
the building and the firefighters rendering first aid.
The investigation at the scene determined
that Mr. Almonte was driving under the influence of alcohol. Mr. Almonte was transported to the hospital
for treatment of his injuries.
The fire station is undergoing an
engineering evaluation to determine if it is structurally sound.
Mr. Almonte was charged with driving under
the influence of alcohol and marked lane violations.
