#MASandy update.
This past week has tested our emergency response systems
and our residents patients and determination as we faced major power outages
and various damage throughout our City.
The City of Methuen is working with MEMA and FEMA to
determine if any of our residents qualify for Federal disaster aid. It has
NOT been determined if the Essex County or more specifically Methuen has reached the financial threshold
to receive Federal disaster relief.
With that said the City is gathering estimates of
financial loss sustained by our residents.
This initial estimate will be submitted to MEMA to determine if as a
State, County and City we qualify for aid.
This is ONLY for costs that
were not covered under an insurance policy.
If a resident of Methuen has sustained a financial
loss as a result of DAMAGE from Sandy
the City would like to know about these losses.
Residents can submit these losses by delivering the
necessary information to the Methuen Police Department by Tuesday 11/06/12 at
5:00 PM in an envelope marked “Sandy Attention Captain Katherine Lavigne” or
they may email them to the police department at: Methuensandy@gmail.com. Please list
Sandy in the subject line.
The information that is necessary at this time would
be:
Name
Address
Preliminary
damage estimate
Detailed
description of the loss
Photos
of the loss
Any
resident with specific questions may email them to Methuensandy@gmail.com or may call Captain
Lavigne at 978-983-8707.
The deadline of
Tuesday 11/06/12 at 5:00 PM is a hard date and time.
In
closing please remember that there is NO
guarantee we will qualify for federal aid and there is NO guarantee that if the City qualifies that all claims will be
accepted by the Federal government.
Thank
you to all of our residents for the tremendous support you have shown to our emergency
workers during the storm and the recovery Phase.

Joseph E. Solomon
